Interviews with Chilean young people about volunteering

Synthesis based on this interview, comparing your personal civic engagement, your first-year Solicity mission, and the general situation in France.
The interview is about youth volunteering in Chile. Young volunteers help elderly people, children, and homeless people. They explained that they volunteer because they want to help others, make a positive impact on society, and meet new people. Volunteering also helps them develop important skills such as teamwork, communication, empathy, and responsibility. It is a rewarding experience for both the volunteers and the people they support.
This interview reminds me of my own civic engagement. I volunteer in an equine therapy association, where I help people with disabilities during horse-riding sessions. I assist them during the activities and make sure they feel safe and comfortable. This experience has taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of adapting to each person’s needs. Helping others and seeing their progress is very rewarding.
I can also compare this experience with my Solicity mission, which I completed during my first year of university. I worked in a school in Zanzibar with children aged 3 to 6, teaching them basic English through games and fun activities. This mission allowed me to discover a different culture, improve my communication skills, and understand how important education is for young children. It was also a great opportunity to develop my adaptability and confidence.
In France, volunteering is also very common. Many associations help vulnerable people, protect the environment, or support people with disabilities. Young people can also take part in the Civic Service program, which encourages them to become involved in community projects. Although not everyone volunteers, these experiences help build a stronger and more supportive society.
In conclusion, the interview shows that volunteering is a meaningful experience that benefits both volunteers and the community. My personal experience in equine therapy and my Solicity mission in Zanzibar share the same values of solidarity, kindness, and helping others. These experiences have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
